Despite the fact that all of mankind depends on the oceans to survive the gross mistreatment of the environment and the wildlife who inhabit that environment continues. This should be in no way acceptable and with this analysis we can gather a better look into not only the causes of the problem but furthermore who is affected by it.

“If you’re overfishing at the top of the food chain, and acidifying the ocean at the bottom, you’re creating a squeeze that could conceivably collapse the whole system.”
– Carl Safina
This quote by writer and founder of The Safina Center Carl Safina pin points two of some of the biggest problems facing ocean conservation today which is the affects of overfishing and ocean acidification. These two phenomenons are rapidly deteriorating the ocean and if action isn’t taken soon then not only will the oceans die but as Safina says the whole system will collapse.
